  • The Base and Textures packages are required, all others are optional extension packages.
  • The SDK package contains utilities and libraries for addon developers.
  • The Earth, Moon and Mars Hires packages contain planetary textures at higher resolutions for some planets.
  • The Earth super-hires package contains super-high resolutions for Earth. If you want to use this, you should also install the Earth hires package.
  • The DG + Dragonfly hires package contains textures for two spaceships at higher resolutions.

Version 031217 - Upgrade patch
Use these packages to upgrade Orbiter from version 031105 to 031217.

  • The Base patch package will upgrade your existing Orbiter 031105 installation to version 031217. Just download and unzip in the Orbiter directory. If you have any addons installed that modify default Orbiter files you should back these files up and re-apply the changes to the patched files as required.
  • The Earth hires patch package will install cloud textures for Earth at level 8 in the Textures2 subfolder, and at level 7 in the Textures subfolder. You should install this part of the patch only if
    • you have already the Earth hires 031105 package installed
    • you have a good graphics card that can handle the load from the very large texture
    • you haven't already a level 8 cloud texture addon installed.
    If you have problems after installing the Earth hires patch, simply delete the Earth_cloud.tex file in the Textures2 subfolder. This will revert to a level 7 cloud texture.
  • The SDK patch will update the Orbitersdk subfolder from version 031105 to 031217. Only required if the SDK 031105 package is already installed.
